The road to African CAN 2023
The draw for the qualifiers for the 2023 African Cup of Nations was held in Johannesburg, South Africa, and revealed through the Arab teams to the competition, which will be hosted by Cote d'Ivoire next summer.
The draw witnessed the participation of 48 teams, including 8 Arab teams, namely: Egypt, Algeria, Comoros, Sudan, Mauritania, Tunisia, Libya, and Morocco, in the qualifiers that start next May 30.
Egypt, runners-up to the last tournament in Cameroon, fell in Group D with Ethiopia, Guinea, and Malawi, while Algeria finished in Group F with Uganda, Tanzania, and Niger.
Comoros came in Group H with Cote d'Ivoire, Zambia, and Lesotho, and Group Nine witnessed Arab competition with Sudan and Mauritania together, along with Gabon and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The tenth group repeated the Arab rivalry with Tunisia, Libya, Equatorial Guinea, and Botswana, while Morocco came in the eleventh group next to South Africa, Liberia, and Zimbabwe.
After the African crowning, these are the rewards for the Senegal players
Senegalese President Macky Sall decided to give the national football team players cash prizes and plots of land after the Teranga Lions won the African Nations Cup on Sunday.
In the final, Senegal beat Egypt 4-2 on penalties, after the match ended without goals in its original and extra time, to crown the first title in its history.
And Agence France-Presse revealed that each member of the team will receive a reward equivalent to about 87,000 dollars, in addition to two plots of land, the first with an area of 200 square meters in Dakar, and the second with an area of 500 square meters in the nearby city of Diamniadio.
